Douglas McCombs is a musician best known for his work as a bassist with the Chicago-based instrumental rock band Tortoise. He has been a key figure in the Chicago post-rock scene since the early 1990s. In addition to his work with Tortoise, McCombs has been involved with several other musical projects, including Brokeback, which is his solo project where he often takes on the role of guitarist and primary composer. Brokeback's music typically features a blend of instrumental rock, country, and jazz influences.
