Crash Test Dummies

Crash Test Dummies

Canadian Folk Rock Band

Crash Test Dummies is a Canadian rock band formed in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1988. The band is most identifiable through the deep, distinctive bass-baritone voice of their lead singer Brad Roberts. Their breakthrough came with the 1991 debut album "The Ghosts That Haunt Me," which earned them not only commercial success but also critical acclaim, including a Juno Award for Group of the Year in 1992. However, it was their 1993 follow-up album "God Shuffled His Feet," featuring the hit single "Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm," that catapulted them to international fame. The song's quirky lyrics and memorable melody helped it chart worldwide, making it the band's most recognizable track. They continued to release music with their third album "A Worm's Life" in 1996, which showcased a darker, more mature sound but did not achieve the same level of success as its predecessor. Despite changes in the lineup and varying degrees of commercial success over the years, Crash Test Dummies have maintained a loyal fan base and continue to tour and produce music with their unique sound that blends folk-rock and alternative rock elements.
