Brutal Truth was an American grindcore band known for their aggressive style and politically charged lyrics. Formed in 1990 in New York City, the band was initially composed of vocalist Kevin Sharp, guitarist Brent "Gurn" McCarthy, bassist Dan Lilker, and drummer Scott Lewis. Lilker, a prominent figure in the extreme metal scene, was previously a member of the influential thrash metal band Anthrax and also played with Nuclear Assault and S.O.D. Brutal Truth quickly established themselves within the grindcore scene with their debut album "Extreme Conditions Demand Extreme Responses," released in 1992.
