Italian Composer and Conductor

Bruno Maderna (1920–1973) was an Italian conductor and composer, widely recognized for his contributions to contemporary classical music. He was a leading figure in the post-war avant-garde music scene and is known for his work in serialism and electronic music. Maderna studied at the Venice Conservatory and later in Rome, under the guidance of notable composers such as Gian Francesco Malipiero and Luigi Dallapiccola. His career was marked by a strong commitment to new music, which led him to collaborate with other prominent composers like Luciano Berio, with whom he founded the Studio di Fonologia Musicale at RAI (Italian Broadcasting Corporation) in Milan, an important center for electronic music.
