Avenged Sevenfold, often abbreviated as A7X, is an American heavy metal band from Huntington Beach, California, formed in 1999. The band's lineup consists of lead vocalist M. Shadows, rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist Zacky Vengeance, lead guitarist and backing vocalist Synyster Gates, bassist and backing vocalist Johnny Christ, and drummer Brooks Wackerman. They are known for their diverse rock sound and dramatic imagery in album covers and merchandise. Avenged Sevenfold achieved mainstream success with their 2005 album "City of Evil," which included singles such as "Bat Country." The self-titled album "Avenged Sevenfold" was released in 2007 and furthered the band's popularity with hits like "Almost Easy" and "Afterlife."
