80s American New Wave/Synthpop Band

Animotion is an American synthpop band formed in Los Angeles, California in 1983. The original lineup consisted of lead vocalists Astrid Plane and Bill Wadhams, keyboardist Greg Smith, drummer David "Frenchy" O'Brien, bassist Charles Ottavio, and guitarist Don Kirkpatrick. They are best known for their hit single "Obsession," which was written by Holly Knight and Michael Des Barres and became a top ten hit in the United States in 1985. The song was featured on their self-titled debut album released the same year. Animotion's style was characterized by their catchy melodies, synth-driven hooks, and energetic pop sound that was emblematic of the 1980s new wave movement.
