Aloe Blacc, born Egbert Nathaniel Dawkins III on January 7, 1979, is an American musician, singer-songwriter, rapper, and philanthropist. He first emerged as a solo artist in the early 2000s and gained initial recognition for his work as half of the hip-hop duo Emanon alongside producer Exile. Aloe Blacc's solo career took a significant leap forward with the release of his 2010 album "Good Things," which featured the hit single "I Need a Dollar." This track became widely popular and was used as the theme song for the HBO series "How to Make It in America," propelling Blacc to international fame.
