Almyrkvi is an atmospheric black metal project that hails from Iceland, known for its dark and ambient soundscapes that are rich in texture and depth. The band was formed by musician Garðar S. Jónsson, who is also known for his work with the Icelandic black metal band Sinmara. Almyrkvi's music is characterized by its blend of crushing riffs, ethereal atmospheres, and a cosmic theme that explores the vastness and mysteries of the universe. The project made its debut with the release of "Pupil of the Searing Maelstrom" in 2016, which was well-received for its innovative approach to black metal. Following this, Almyrkvi released "Umbra" in 2017, further establishing its unique sound within the genre. The collaboration with The Ruins of Beverast on a split release showcases Almyrkvi's ability to stand alongside other prominent acts in the field while contributing to the ever-evolving landscape of black metal.
