Yesterday is the soundtrack to the film of the same name, starring Himesh Patel and Lily James. The film is directed by the makers of the box office hit Slumdog Millionaire.The highly successful singer-songwriter Jack (Himesh Patel) wants to hang up his guitar because no matter what he does, only his best friend Ellie (Lily James) listens to him. But then Jack is mysteriously hit by a bus. However, during a party held to celebrate his recovery, he strums the famous Beatles song Yesterday on his guitar, with his friends acting as if they are hearing the song for the first time in their lives. But so does the internet. It's as if the Beatles never existed, and Jack senses an opportunity that leads to opening for Ed Sheeran (who plays himself in the film). But Jack's joy is tempered by two small things - the knowledge that he is committing fraud and the loss of Ellie, who is heartbroken. (CinemArt)
