Countertenor Valer Sabadus is one of the most successful artists on the world baroque music scene. "One of the finest countertenors of our time" (Fonoforum), "what he achieves in naturalness to dizzying heights is simply astonishing", is the verdict of the press. In 2015 he won the ECHO Klassik Award for his first album of Gluck's opera arias on the Sony Classical label. For his new album with the renowned ensemble Concerto Köln, he has chosen arias written for the most famous castrato in the history of music, Farinelli (1705-1782). The title "Caro gemello" - "Dear Twin" - refers to Farinelli's deep friendship with the famous librettist Pietro Metastasio, who wrote the texts of almost all the arias written for Farinelli that appear on the album: Giacomelli's Adriano in Siria (1692-1740), Hasse's Ruggiero (1699-1783), Conforto's La Nitetti (1718-1793), Caldara's La mort d'Abel, and Porpora's Angelica et Medoro (1686-1768). There is also an aria composed by Farinelli himself: Ecco quel fiero istante from La Partenza.
