Gregory Porter, Melody Gardot and Madeleine Peyroux come from the jazz world, but have long captured the attention of the pop world, where they have won countless fans. Now all three - and a host of equally talented fellow singers - are dedicating themselves to absolute jazz legend: Charlie Parker, who died in 1955 at the age of just 34 and is still considered the most influential saxophonist in jazz history. The fascinating tribute album "The Passion Of Charlie Parker" was produced by none other than Larry Klein (Joni Mitchell, Herbie Hancock, Tracy Chapman and others). Based on Charlie Parker's most famous musical themes, he created sometimes swinging, sometimes atmospheric songs that reflect situations from his dramatic life. The backing musicians are also a bit of a sensation: the band features saxophonist Donny McCaslin, guitarist Ben Monder and drummer Mark Giuliana, three musicians who shone on David Bowie's last album, "Blackstar". You've never heard Charlie Parker and Gregory Porter, Melody Gardot, Madeleine Peyroux and their colleagues like this before!
