Released in October 2005, Imaginational Anthem Volume One featured two generations of prominent acoustic guitarists, from John Fahey and Sandy Bull to Jack Rose and Kaki King. The record garnered unanimous praise in the press and was featured on NPR's "Weekend Edition". Volume 2 expands and expands on this theme with over 70 more minutes of guitar magic - all previously unreleased on CD in the US. The disc opens with twenty-three-year-old British twelve-string newcomer James Blackshaw and closes with the late master Robbie Basho, who was a clear influence on Blackshaw's style. Basho's composition is the only live recording of this pioneering guitarist ever released. Imaginational Anthem Vol. 2 features a rich selection of new recordings by former Takoma roster alumnus Peter Lang (who made albums with John Fahey and Leo Kottke), Billy Faier (the original Greenwich Village folkie whose Riverside recordings from the late '50s inspired fellow crack banjo player Steve Martin), and archival home recordings by Fred Gerlach (a favorite of Jimmy Page). The new generation is well represented by fascinating contemporary figures - Smith, Carter, Sparhawk, Kraus, Rose and Blackshaw.
