Odyssey with War On Drugs War On Drugs announce their first studio album in four years, "I Don't Live Here Anymore", for 2021. Over the past fifteen years, the band around Adam Granduciel has gradually developed into one of this century's finest exponents of indie rock. They bridge the gap between underground and mainstream, between dullness and anthem. War On Drugs have never done it as well as they do on their fifth studio album, I Don't Live Here Anymore, an extraordinary record about one of our most mundane but also most difficult processes - persevering in the face of despair. Just a month after their last album, A Deeper Understanding, won the 2018 Grammy for Best Rock Album, the core of Granduciel, bassist Dave Hartley and multi-instrumentalist Anthony LaMarca, retreated to New York State to jam and record new demos, working outside of the pre-determined roles each member plays in concert. These sessions proved to be very productive, resulting in early versions of some of the most immediate songs on I Don't Live Here Anymore. It was the beginning of an odyssey of over a dozen recordings that spanned three years and took place in seven studios, including some of rock's finest sound shops such as "Electric Lady" in New York and "Sound City" in Los Angeles. Bandleader Adam Granduciel and co-producer and engineer Shawn Everett spent countless hours rebuilding every part of these songs. One of the most memorable recordings took place in May 2019 at the "Electro-Vox" studio, where the entire band lineup, complete with keyboardist Robbie Bennett, drummer Charlie Hall and saxophonist Jon Natchez, came together to record the heartfelt album opener "Living Proof." Granduciel usually assembles The War On Drugs records from various reworkings like some kind of rock 'n' roll jigsaw puzzle. In the case of "Living Proof," however, the track was written in real time, with the musicians using their interplay as a live unit to create an improvised magic. The immediacy of the performance was fitting for one of the most personal songs Granduciel has ever written. If you want to see the latest qualities of this exceptional band, you can listen to the song now, which was released as the first single in July. In addition, you can now pre-order "I Don't Live Here Anymore" on CD and double LP on black vinyl.
Álbum abarca todos los géneros Rock y Indie Rock.
