Finally: a live album after 40 years Probably the most legendary Grateful Dead concert finally got its first official release in 2017. "Cornell 5/8/77" is a recording of their May 8, 1977 concert. Jerry Garcia, Donna Jean Godchaux, Keith Godchaux, Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann, Phil Lesh and Bob Weir played Barton Hall on the campus of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. For many fans, this performance is still considered the absolute highlight of their careers. The album "Cornell 5/8/77" included 19 songs, including classics like "Dancing In The Street", "Estimated Prophet", "Fire On The Mountain" and many more. "Cornell 5/8/77" was recorded live by recording engineer Betty Cantor-Jackson. For a long time it was thought that the tapes were lost, but they were eventually found. And so the recordings are now available on a total of three CDs or five LPs, fittingly for the 40th anniversary. They were previously restored by Plangent Processes and eventually mastered by Jeffrey Norman. The artwork for the boxes is by Grammy-winning artist Masaki Koike. Deadheads have been waiting a long time for this: "Cornell 5/8/77" is now the first official live album from The Grateful Dead's legendary show.
