Pepper' will feature new mixes in stereo and 5.1 Surround Audio; expanded with previously unreleased session recordings, video footage and special packaging. Previously unreleased 1992 documentary 'The Making of Sgt. Pepper,' restored for the anniversary edition Super Deluxe Boxed Set. It was fifty years ago on June 1, when The Beatles - John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr stunned and delighted the Summer of Love world with the release of Sgt. Pepper's groundbreaking masterpiece, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, which has become one of the most critically acclaimed albums in popular music. To celebrate the moment, The Beatles will release a series of exclusively presented anniversary editions of 'Sgt. Pepper' on May 26 (Apple Corps Ltd./Capitol/USM). The album is newly mixed by Giles Martin and Sam Okell in stereo and 5.1 surround audio, and augmented with early studio session recordings - 34 previously unreleased tracks in total."It's crazy to think that fifty years later we look back on this project with so much love and also with wonder at how four guys, one great producer and his engineers actually managed to create such an ageless work of art," says Paul McCartney in his new introduction to the anniversary edition of 'Sgt. Pepper'."'Sgt. Pepper' seems to have captured the feel of that year, and also allowed many other people in that moment to really kick the propeller and dive in," Ringo Starr recalls in the anniversary edition book.This is the first time Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album has been remixed and presented with other session recordings, and it's also the first Beatles album to be remixed and expanded since Let It Be... Naked in 2003. To create the new stereo and 5.1 surround audio mixes for 'Sgt. Pepper ' producer Giles Martin and mix engineer Sam Okell worked with an expert team of engineers and audio restoration specialists at Abbey Road Studios in London. All Anniversary Editions include Martin's new stereo mix of the album, which was taken directly from the original four-track tapes from the sessions, taking into account the original Beatles' preferred mono mix, which was created by his father George Martin.The Sgt.
