The album's lead single, the track "ME!" featuring Brendon Urie, was released on April 26, 2019. The song reached number one in the United States, Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom. The second single from the album, "You Need to Calm Down", was released on June 14, 2019. The song reached number two in the United States and number six in the United Kingdom. The third single from the album, "The Archer", was released on July 26, 2019. The song reached number seven in the United States. The album Lover has received universally positive reviews from music critics. On Metacritic, which assigns a standard score out of 100 to reviews from mainstream publications, the album received an average score of 78 based on 22 reviews.
