While the album was originally released two years after Vaughan's death in 1990, the actual concert took place on April 1, 1980 at the "Steamboat 1874" in Austin, Texas. Before the silk kimonos and black sombreros became his trademarks, before his stunning performance at the Montreux Jazz Festival, and before he landed a record deal. It's an album by the twenty-five-year-old Vaughan, who still had more than three years before the release of his first studio album.
