"Everything Is Alive", the fifth album by Slowdive, is exactly what its title suggests: an exploration of the dazzling nature of life and the universal points of life. While there are parts of this album that could easily fit the atmospheric qualities of 1995's "Pygmalion," "Everything Is Alive" also manages to push the boundaries of what preceded it.

Exciting psychedelic soundscapes, pulsating '80s electronic elements and John Cale-inspired journeys make the album seem tailor-made for 2023 and beyond. For a genre that is often seen as ambivalent, here Slowdive show that they are masters of their craft by pushing it beyond the single; the end result is a record that feels as emotive and cathartic as it does hopeful.
