It was the dawn of the new millennium - and even more so for black metal pioneers Satyricon, who were poised for perhaps the most groundbreaking development of their career. After the release of the genre milestone "Nemesis Divina" (1996), Satyr and Frost went into seclusion for three years, only to return in the fall of 1999 in absolutely stunning form. "Rebel Extravaganza" proved to be more than aptly named and broke down all genre boundaries with the progressive ten-minute opener "Tied in Bronze Chains". Backed by stunning guest appearances from genre greats such as Fenriz (Darkthrone) and Snorre Ruch (Thorns), the Norwegians unleashed a revolutionary and experimental masterpiece that combined furious black metal with industrial elements, prog, synths and breathtaking time signatures. The album became a major inspiration for countless up-and-coming experimental black metal bands and the birth of a new era of Satyricon. In time for the 20th anniversary of the release of this groundbreaking album, it has been remastered and will be re-released on Napalm Records.
