The third edition of the "Deep Cuts" series focuses on lesser-known songs from Queen's last five studio albums. From "The Works" comes "Machines": a duet between Mercury and a vocoder (over which Roger Taylor's voice was sent) or "Tear It Up", reminiscent of "We Will Rock You". "A Kind Of Magic" features the bass track "One Year Of Love", written by John Deacon. "Was It All Worth It" from the album "The Miracle" with Roger Taylor on gong and timpani percussion was described by the band themselves as a great favourite song from that album, as was "Khashoggi's Ship", a song about the scandal-ridden Saudi businessman Adnan Khashoggi (the character of that name later appeared in the Queen musical "We Will Rock You"). Rather unknown today, then excellent: Roger Taylor's "These Are The Days Of Our Lives", which won the 1992 Brit Award (best single). Most of the tracks on the compilation, 5 in total, come from Queen's last studio album "Made In Heaven" from 1995. Included are: the title track alongside the psychedelic, somnambulistic ballad "A Winter's Tale", which Mercury reportedly wrote while looking out over Lake Geneva in the last months of his life. With "Deep Cuts Volume 3" comes the final section, which revisits the late Queens' work in its not-so-familiar form. Review ,,Deep Cuts 3 completes the circle of unusual song compilations from a twenty year career of superlatives. This disc, included alongside the third and final volume of Queen's sonically remastered albums, contains material exclusively from 1984 to 1995.
