"It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back" was like a hip hop apocalypse, with which Public Enemy released arguably the best hip hop album of all time. Importantly, it was an undeniably powerful statement, a manifesto for the rebirth of a mass movement for African-American liberation: black power for a new generation. Its musical impact was transformative; many other rap groups followed the example of The Bomb Squad, the great producers of PE. The amount of sound they put into the plastic here is incredible. For many fans and critics, this is the best hip hop album of all time. These things are always subjective, but when you immerse yourself in its world, it's impossible to argue that the movie It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back didn't deserve to be there or anywhere near there.
