Peter's second solo album, recorded in the Netherlands and New York, was produced by Robert Fripp. The album was released in June 1978. Fripp continued to nurture Peter's growing fascination with electronics, and the resulting album is denser and more experimental than the debut. Peter Gabriel is one of the most influential artists of this era from his musical beginnings to the present. He has made pop history with his albums and music videos. After his stint with Genesis, Peter Gabriel launched his solo career in 1977 with his debut album, which featured one of his biggest hits, Solsbury Hill. A third album, the timeless classics Games Without Frontiers and Biko, followed in 1980. In 1986, he finally had his big worldwide breakthrough with So - featuring the aforementioned Sledgehammer and the congenial duet Don't Give Up with Kate Bush. For the album's 25th anniversary, So was re-released in various deluxe versions and Gabriel played various concerts around the world. This was followed in the early 1990s by Us, with which Peter Gabriel embarked on a world tour with an unusual stage concept. In 2002, he released his longest studio album to date, Up, which is sonically close to Gabriel's early albums. In 2011, his latest work "New Blood" was released, on which he reinterprets his own songs.
