McCartney's first solo album was released in 1970, a month before the Beatles' swan song "Let It Be". This is an experimental album and the original home of "Maybe I'm Amazed". "I had a lot of fun with the McCartney album," Paul recalls, "because I only got a four-track from EMI and I had it in my living room where I was living in London at the time. I entered the day as Mr Magritte. I went in, did a little bit, made something up and then wrapped it up. It was very interesting and it had a certain unpolishedness to it because I went off after the Beatles, I think we all felt that. During the Beatles period, I said to John: "I think I should do an album called Paul McCartney Goes Too Far". He said, "That's a great idea, you should do that. Of course, I never did it. I thought, 'Well, I'll do it one day'."
