The album, produced by Jimmy Iovine, contains a dozen outstanding interpretations with an almost hypnotic charisma. Particularly noteworthy are "Privilege (Set Me Free)" and "Rock N Roll Nigger" - and let's not forget Bruce Springsteen's immortal anthem "Because The Night", which Patti Smith interprets in a modified version of the lyrics.
