The album "Sings Soul Ballads", released in 1965, contains a selection of sweet and tender songs. Backed by the Stax House Band, featuring Booker T. Jones, Steve Cropper, Donald "Duck" Dunn and Al Jackon Jr, Otis Redding performs soul music in his impressive style. His versions of Sam Cooke's "Nothing Can Change This Love" and Chuck Willis' "It's Too Late" can be considered improved versions of the originals. The biggest hit of the album was the song "Mr Pitiful", which Otis Redding got from a radio DJ in Memphis.
