Mikael Åkerfeldt, as the band's main songwriter, managed to successfully transfer his dark emotions into all those twisted solos, surrounded by a wall of even heavier riffs. Classic clean harmonies mixed with guttural growls. Opeth's technical prowess sets them apart from their followers and peers alike, and accordingly, Ghost Reveries is definitely one of the best metal albums ever recorded. This album is the culmination of everything Opeth have accomplished during their career. It is fully realized, stunningly beautiful and emotionally fragmented. The acclaimed Swedish metal band Opeth rose to fame in the early noughties after releasing several fan-favorite highlights. Their first world tour after the release of Blackwater Park in 2001 was the beginning of big album sales and great art songs.
