Oasis' two record-breaking nights at Knebworth took place on 10 and 11 August 1996, when more than a quarter of a million young music fans from all over the world flocked to Knebworth Park in Hertfordshire to see the legendary concerts. The monumental shows took place against the backdrop of the UK slowly recovering from a decade-long recession. After 1980, the mood of the nation changed. A cultural revival in arts and culture led to 'Cool Britannia' and Oasis, with their meteoric rise, embodied this newfound optimism and dynamism. In two short years, the band had grown from a Manchester council estate into one of the biggest bands in the world, and to the assembled masses that found the five men on stage before them, anything seemed possible. The setlist was packed from start to finish with absolute classics, from the opening salvo of 'Columbia' and 'Acquiesce' to 'Champagne Supernova', 'Don't Look Back In Anger', 'Live Forever', the triumphant, 'I Am The Walrus' and the first 90s track to reach a billion streams on Spotify, 'Wonderwall', the Knebworth shows were the pinnacle of the band's success and a milestone for a generation.
