Nina Simone and Her Friends" was first released by Bethlehem Records as a compilation album consisting of leftover and previously unreleased tracks from the recording of "Little Girl Blue" and two additional songs recorded by singers Carmen McRae and Chris Connor, both former Bethlehem Records artists. In conjunction with the re-release of "Nina Simone and Her Friends (2021 - Stereo Remaster)" by Daphne A. Brookes explains in her essay. Each track is a remembrance of three confident and talented female artists who were pioneers in the late 1950s, particularly in the reinvention of women as musical performers." The release is accompanied by a brand new stereo mix by four-time Grammy winner Michael Graves and includes a new essay by Daphne A, author of "Liner Notes for the Revolution." Brooks.
