Republic is the seventh studio album by English rock band New Order , released on 9 November 1993 by London Records. The album was produced by the band members and Stephen Hague and was their first album released after the departure of guitarist and co-founder Bernard Sumner, who left the band in May 1993. On Republic, the band moved away from their synthpop and dance-pop roots and incorporated more alternative rock and guitar elements into their sound. The album spawned four singles: "Regret", "Ruined in a Day", "World in Motion" (a collaboration with Keith Allen that became the official song of the English national football team for the 1990 World Cup) and "Spooky". The album Republic met with mixed reviews from music critics, but was commercially successful and reached number two in the UK Albums Chart.
