Hawks & Doves was the Canadian musician's tenth studio album. The two sides were recorded under different circumstances, the first side was taken from a recording session between 1974 and 1977 and the second side was taken from a recording session specifically for this album in early 1980. In December 1980, Hawks & Doves reached number 30 on the US Billboard Top Pop Albums chart. Hawks & Doves is one of Young's shortest albums, clocking in at just under half an hour.
