Return to Greendale is the next installment of Neil Young's Performance Series (#16) and features a concert (audio and film) from the historic and unique 2003 tour that accompanied the release of Neil Young & Crazy Horse Greendale. On the 2003 tour, Neil Young and Crazy Horse took the stage with a large cast of singers and actors to perform a story Neil Young wrote about the small town of Greendale and how a dramatic event would affect the people there. Ten songs from the powerful original album are performed in sequence, with the actors speaking the words as they are sung, adding to the intensity of the performance. The Return to Greendale live album will be released in a variety of formats: on double vinyl, 2 CDs and a limited edition deluxe box set that includes a Blu-ray of the entire concert, the Inside Greendale DVD (a documentary about the making of the album), 2 LPs and 2 CDs. The film of the ambitious concert show captures the charisma of Neil Young and Crazy Horse on stage in a unique multimedia experience. It seamlessly combines live performances, with the performers performing individual songs, with a story that is occasionally interspersed with scenes from the film Greendale.
