Following Miles Davis' "Bitches Brew Live" album, Music On Vinyl is releasing an album that has been on the label's wish list for quite some time. "We Want Miles" is a collection of live recordings from Boston, New York and Tokyo in 1981, the first live recordings after a long hiatus. In 1982, the album became a critical favorite and won a Grammy Award for Best Jazz Instrumental Performance. Davis is joined here by Marcus Miller on bass, Al Foster on drums, Mike Stern on guitar, Mino Cinelu on drums and Bill Evans on saxophone. Review ,,In particular, the Miller/Foster combination of pumping funk rhythm machine contrasts sharply with Davis' restrained playing style on these recordings. Often all he needs are a few razor-sharp stabs, other times he'll almost shout in fanfare, then the old familiar loud and quiet playing celebrates again - before Mike Stern's electric guitar turns the mood in a completely different direction."
