This compilation is carefully selected and includes well-known standards and music (especially "So What!") that Davis recorded with Cannonball Adderley and John Coltrane before they became bandleaders and big stars. The placement of Johnny Carisi's "Springsville" alongside "Summertime," both recorded with Gil Evans' orchestra, is a nice touch.
