Directed by award-winning documentary filmmaker Stanley Nelson, the film features Miles' music from live performances, studio recordings and performances, as well as interviews with those who knew Miles best personally and professionally, including musical luminaries Quincy Jones, Carlos Santana, Clive Davis, Wayne Shorter and Ron Carter. Birth of the Great will be available in a variety of formats including Blu-ray, DVD and two limited two-disc sets. The 2-disc collector's edition is packaged in a hardcover DVD book with 16 pages of color photos. The bonus DVD features over 70 minutes of spectacular and exceptional performances from Montreux, including "It Gets Better" and "Lake Geneva" from the 1984 afternoon session and "Star People" and "Hopscotch" from the memorable 1985 evening session.
