The singer has already hinted at the sound of the new album with the singles "Black Man In A White World" and the title track "Love & Hate". Both songs show that Michael Kiwanuka stays true to his blend of soul, jazz, blues and folk on his new album, but leans a little more towards rock here and there. The sound seems grittier overall, though the singer's hauntingly soulful voice is still the clear focal point of all the tracks.
