Lionel Richie - an artist without equal. American super talent -> soul singer, songwriter, record producer and saxophonist. He won four Grammy Awards in the 1980s and an Academy Award in 1986. In 1968, Richie co-founded the R&B group The Commodores. After recording with Atlantic Records, the Commodores switched to Motown and became the opening act for the Jackson Five. In the 1970s, the Commodores became one of the most successful soul and R&B groups. Lionel Richie was the group's singer, saxophonist and songwriter. He wrote the Commodores' biggest hits such as Easy and Three Times a Lady. When Richie found success as a songwriter for other artists, the collaboration with the group broke up. Richie wrote the American hit Lady for country singer Kenny Rogers. In 1981, Richie reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 with the title song from the film Endless Love, a duet with Diana Ross. The Universal Music US label is now releasing his first three solo albums from 1982, 1983 and 1986....s evergreens "Endless Love", which became his breakthrough solo album, "Hello", "Dancing on the Ceiling" and "Love Will Conquer All". Soul at its best on vinyl!
