The ten new songs on this eagerly awaited album are surely the highlight of this influential singer, songwriter and writer's work. Although "Old Ideas" only began recording in January 2011, Cohen has been working on the songs and lyrics for several years. Two of the tracks, "The Darkness" and "Lullaby," were recorded in 2007 and early versions were performed as part of the recently completed sold-out world tour.
