The album "Starless & Bible Black", which was sandwiched between the sensational "Lark's Tongues in Aspic" and the lasting impact of "Red", has often been overlooked in the King Crimson canon. Although the public was not as aware of it at the time of its release in March 1974, "Starless & Bible Black" is largely a live album - an experimental hybrid of concert recordings (mostly improvisations) and studio recordings. For the most part, the two elements are so well matched that it's hard to separate them. "Starless & Bible Black" combines the best of both worlds while accurately representing the unique identity of the lineup at the time.
