In 2015, the British cult band finally came up with something new, and it's as wild and unhinged as ever. Jaz Coleman, Kevin "Geordie" Walker, Martin "Youth" Glover and Paul Ferguson have come up with ten new songs - one darker than the other. You wouldn't expect anything less from a band whose content has always dealt with the darker sides of life. In fact, Killing Joke have already prepared their fans for number 16 with 15 albums. And this one settles scores: with ideologies, wars, environmental destruction and sensation-driven media executives - all rewarding targets on "Pylon". They started it in the song "I Am The Virus". The album's lead single is an intense and angry song that fits well with the band's thematic focus, such as conspiracy theories and defiance of authority. The band's musical influences are as diverse as its themes. Whether it's rock, metal, gothic or even disco, Killing Joke embraces many genres on "Pylon". But you've come to expect that from the band, as well as Youth's virtuoso guitar sound or Coleman's distinctive, sometimes sing-songy, sometimes bellowing voice. In 2015, Killing Joke are doing what they always do: dark post-rock that settles scores with everything that doesn't suit the quartet. Like all of the band's albums, "Pylon" is no ordinary album, but it's good as usual.
