"Point Of Know Return" marked the commercial peak of KANSAS in 1977. The progressive rock band had had a huge success with their previous album "Leftoverture" in 1976, and were therefore not so desperate for a hit. Still, the making of their fifth album was thrilling. In the midst of these recordings, Steve Walsh left the band for a short time. Despite everything, the album proved to be even more successful than its predecessor. "Point Of Know Return" became Kansas' biggest hit, selling four million copies and going four times platinum. The tour for the album took the band to such large stadiums as Madison Square Garden and the LA Forum. The band's songs were regularly played on radio at the time and the band was considered the most impressive rock band of its time. "Dust In The Wind" became the album's hit single.
