Today's era has only one dream singing couple: Anna Netrebko and Rolando Villazón. Each of their projects is awaited with excitement and is a guarantee of success. This will be no different with Massenet's great lyric opera Manon, based on a theme by Abbé Prévost. The emotion and charm of Prévost's rococo novel was brilliantly translated by Massenet into music, and Netrebko and Villazón interpret it congenially. The extraordinary nature of the project is enhanced by the artistic input of conductor Daniel Barenboim and director (and choreographer) Vincent Paterson, who is no newcomer to opera; he is widely known as the director of Michael Jackson and Madonna projects (Blond Ambition Tour); he choreographed the Berlin version of the musical Cabaret and the musical sequences of films such as Dancer in the Dark, September 11th and Evita. He was also behind the direction of Gulliver's Travels at the National Black Theatre in Prague.
