Los Angeles - Since the release of her debut album in 1968, Joni Mitchell's songs have been cherished by generations, won every award imaginable, and become a source of inspiration for many artists around the world. Now the 77-year-old is releasing parts of her archive for the first time. The Joni Mitchell Archives will be a series of boxes over the coming years documenting deep insights into previously unreleased material from different stages of her turbulent career. Mitchell was personally intimately involved in the production of the archive series, allowing her vision and personal approach to come through in every detail of the project. The collection begins with Mitchell's earliest known recording, an appearance by a then-nineteen-year-old Joni on radio station CFQC AM in her hometown of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The two live performances will be released separately on October 30. Early Joni - 1963 As with many of Joni Mitchell's other albums, the cover of Early Joni is a self-portrait painted by Mitchell herself, and also represents her first recent artwork in many years.
