This career-spanning collection presents 12 of Johnny Cash's classic recordings in new symphonic arrangements, recorded at the famous Abbey Road Studio 2 with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The performances range from classic Cash compositions such as 'Man In Black' and 'Ring Of Fire' to major musical collaborations such as 'Girl From The North Country' (Bob Dylan with Johnny Cash), 'The Loving Gift' (with June Carter Cash) and 'Highwayman' (with Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson and Johnny Cash). The recordings of "I Walk The Line" and "Flesh and Blood" used in the production by Johnny Cash and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra are previously unreleased alternate takes from Johnny Cash's soundtrack to the 1970 film I Walk The Line, starring Gregory Peck and Tuesday Weld. "I remember my father introducing me to the RPO," writes John Carter Cash in the liner notes. "I was about ten years old, and at the New York Film Festival, he and I watched three films in the James Bond saga. When the theme song for Goldfinger started, he leaned over to me. "This is the best orchestra in the world, son," he said. "This is the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra." ... He knew the RPO's music. He respected it all his life."
