Stormwatch is the twelfth studio album by Jethro Tull. It is considered the last of Jethro Tull's trilogy of folk-rock albums (although folk music has influenced virtually all of Tull's albums). The album touches heavily on issues related to the environment, oil and money, among other things. This is the last album by Tull recorded with the classic 1970s line-up. Bassist John Glascock, who was suffering from a heart infection at the time that eventually led to his death, can only be heard on three tracks ("Flying Dutchman", "Orion" and "Elegy"). Ian Anderson played bass on the album, while Dave Pegg played on the subsequent tour. The instrumental track "Elegy" was written by David Palmer. Dun Ringill is the historic site of an Iron Age fort on the Isle of Skye, which served as the original seat of Clan MacKinnon. Anderson once owned the nearby Kilmarie House and lived there until 1994 when he sold it. A sporran is a type of satchel traditionally worn with a kilt. Other names refer to the constellation Orion and the legend of the Flying Dutchman. It is sometimes said that "Elegy" was a tribute to John Glascock, who was very ill at the time due to a congenital heart defect and died shortly after the album's release. It's actually an elegy to David Palmer's father and one of the few songs in which Glascock appears.
