An extraordinary selection of Genesis and its members will be released at the end of September!British rock band Genesis formed in 1967 and (with a small break) has been going strong to this day in modified line-ups. The achievements of this legend, as well as those of its former or current members, will be summarised for the first time in an exceptional three-disc set, which will be released at the end of September under the title R-Kive!The collection will offer a total of thirty-seven songs that chart not only the greatest achievements of the band Genesis, but also of its members - Tony Banks, Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel, Steve Hackett, Mike Rutherford and his band Mike + The Mechanics. The chronologically arranged set includes such Genesis hits as Invisible Touch, Turn It On Again, Land Of Confusion or I Can't Dance, as well as classics The Living Years and Over My Shoulder from the repertoire of Mike + The Mechanics... Phil Collins' career is mapped on the compilation, for example by the single In The Air Tonight and the duet with Philip Bailey Easy Lover, while Peter Gabriel's classic Solsbury Hill. Interesting highlights of the set for many are the lesser-known tracks - Steve Hackett's flamenco-inspired Nomads, Gabriel's Signal To Noise, which features a guest appearance from Pakistani singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, and Calling All Stations from the days of Genesis, when Ray Wilson, founder of Scottish rockers Stiltskin, briefly became the band's lead singer...While the band Genesis is represented by twenty-two songs on the R-Kive selection, each member was given the opportunity to democratically include three of his solo songs on the record. This made the selection very difficult, which is why some fans may miss some of the more familiar songs. "Usually the singles are what people remember from the albums, but occasionally it happens that a lesser-known song presents the whole album better and thus doesn't deserve to be forgotten," says Phil Collins in his defence.If one wanted to chart the entire career of Genesis and its members in detail, one would certainly need to fit hundreds of songs on such a compilation. It's no wonder - the band has released fifteen studio albums, its members have collectively released dozens more, and so it's no wonder that collectively they've sold over three hundred million albums worldwide to date...R-Kive is thus clearly the most prestigious selection of the band Genesis and its members to date, looking not just at commercial successes in its tracklisting, but trying to showcase all the successful phases of the last nearly five decades that the band and its artists have been active, while also offering in a few cases songs that the uninitiated may be hearing for the very first time
