Genesis' Invisible Touch was released in 1986 as their thirteenth studio album. The album was commercially successful and topped the charts in the United States, the United Kingdom and a number of other countries. The album's lead single, "Invisible Touch", became a huge hit and topped the charts in several countries. Other singles from the album, "Land of Confusion" and "Throwing It All Away", were also successful. The album moved away from the band's earlier more progressive rock sound and introduced a more pop sound. Many of the songs on the album were written by keyboardist Tony Banks and guitarist Mike Rutherford, who were the band's main songwriters at the time. The album is cited as a major influence on the development of the pop-metal genre. Invisible Touch is widely regarded as one of Genesis' most commercially successful albums, and critics have praised it for its catchy hooks and strong songwriting.
