Creedence Clearwater Revival's 1968 debut album introduced the world to brothers John and Tom Fogerty, drummer Doug Clifford and bassist Stu Cook, four young men from El Cerrito in the San Francisco Bay Area. Although CCR emerged at a time when trip-hop psychedelic visions were the order of the day, they bucked the trends and instead tapped into the rich traditional base of American music fused with blues, country, rockabilly, gospel, folk and R&B. During their brief tenure (1968-1972), Creedence experienced an unprecedented creative explosion, releasing seven studio albums (two of which reached number one), playing more than 150 concerts worldwide, including a performance at Woodstock, and scoring 14 top ten singles. CCR's music is still relevant today, fifty years later - in the last two years alone, their music has been featured in the most popular movies (The Post, War Dogs, Suicide Squad), TV shows (The Voice, The Strain, Good Girls Revolt) and video games (Mafia III, Watch Dogs II, Crackdown 2), leading a new generation of fans to discover songs like "Fortunate Son," "Bad Moon Rising" and "Have You Ever Seen The Rain?". The band has sold over 30 million albums in the U.S. alone, and in 2016 Creedence received a rare RIAA Diamond Certification for selling 10 million units of the compilation album Chronicle: The 20 Greatest Hits from 1976.
