Chet Faker aka Nick Murphy is back with his long awaited new album. "Hotel Surrender" is a vibrant ten song album with powerful bass lines and electrifying melodies. It brought Chet Faker - and Murphy himself - back into the world. Like his debut album, 2014's "Built on Glass," Murphy wrote and produced "Hotel Surrender" himself, completing most of the songs before Covid19 began recording in March 2020. Shortly after the pandemic caused a worldwide shutdown, Murphy lost his father, and the new feel-good music suddenly took on an even deeper meaning for him. "It was very challenging for me," he recalls. "I had a different perception of music then, but now I see it as a kind of mass therapy. Before, I felt like I was on a crusade or a creative odyssey. Today I know it's something shamanic. You have to find the light - or sometimes the darkness - and share it. I realized that this is the core of Chet Faker. I felt the world was suffering, so I wanted to do something that would bring joy to people."
